I came to Oppositelock a little more than a year ago hoping to be heard as an automotive enthusiast. I check in every couple of days and share a story every couple of months so I’m by no means a core member, but I have enjoyed this site very much since discovering it as an outlet for sharing and expressing some creativity. Today, while perusing through the mobile feed I read that oppo is shutting down. This came as a little bit of a shock since I don’t keep up with Kinja news and have only heard in passing gripes about GMG. I still have no clue what any of it meant. I come here for automobillia, not business politics, but still, I’m curious as to what happened, when it’s happening, and where I might continue to express myself creatively while sharing transportation related stories. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Will I be able to continue to grow my writing, as amature as it may be? Well, I hope so.
If this is my last post here, all I can say is Thank you and goodbye. I don’t know any of you very well, but many of you have won me over in the comments. You’ll all be missed.

No worries friend! I just reposted and edited it to add clarification on the links in that list as well. There is not yet a agreed-upon new HOME for Oppo, but that’s all in discussion. Use the things in that list as a staging ground for now and more info will come! :)

Potential legal issue with what sites are responsible for. From copyright to dark areas. When the sub kinja blogs exploded 2012 ish there were some dark places, not Oppo, but there is an internal push to delete the whole thing.

Ah. That makes sense I guess. Lawyers are always rounding off the edges of anything that gets big enough. I have to say though, that now I’m morbidly curious about what kind of dark shit was happening in other corners of Kinja.

Oh yeah, I remember giving you some advice on things to do in Atlanta. You can count on an Oppo having some experience in seemingly just about every part of North America at the very least. It’s amazing how we seem to get around. It’s sad to see this go but hopefully we can move on to a less unstable home with Drive Tribe as an interim solution.
